Srinagar, May 15 (KNO): The Committee for Fixation of Fee Structure of Private Educational Institutions of J&K has proposed to impose a penalty of one percent of the revenue to a private school in Srinagar for violating its orders.
The committee in a communiqué to the Chairman of a school said that the school was required to charge a fee fixed by this committee. “However, a complaint has been received that you are charging a fee by making a hike of 20 percent.”
According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Chairperson of the Fee Fixation Committee, Justice (Retd) Sunil Hali said that in case, the school authorities were aggrieved of this order, the remedy was to appear before this committee for reconsideration of the order which you have not done.
“Instead, when the parents approached you, you have shown disrespect to this committee by telling them that you don't bother to obey the orders of the FFRC,” he said.
The fee fixation committee said that it has been observed by the committee that you do not comply with the orders issued by the Government or the Committee from time to time and complaints mentioning collection of Fee at exorbitant rates by your school are pouring in.
“You have been defying orders of the committee from 2015 onwards, which shows your disrespect for the committee. Time and again notices were issued against you but you failed to appear every time,” it reads.
FFRC said that the school was violating the orders of the committee and as per the rules and regulations of Jammu & Kashmir Private Schools (Fixation, Determination and Regulation of Fee) Rules, 2022, chairperson of FFRC has proposes to impose penalty of one percent of the revenue of the preceding year.
“The FFRC chairperson has proposes to impose penalty of one percent of the revenue of the preceding year which comes to approximately 32 lac as per audit report submitted by you reflecting the revenue the school receives and also recommending to the appropriate authority for taking over the management of the school,” it reads.
The committee however, said that before doing that, the chairman of the school is directed to appear before the committee on 17-05-2024 at 3pm to explain his position. “Failing which, action as mentioned above shall be initiated against your school without any further notice,” it reads—(KNO)
